“The Sex Thermometer” - Live at DCP’s Armour After Dark: Hot Summer Night

An oral (aural?) adaptation of Sex Camp is debuting at Davidson Community Players’ Hot Summer Night on July 14, 2026.

Soon after wrapping up God of Carnage at Theatre Charlotte, I learned about DCP’s Armour After Dark series. And when I saw July’s theme, Hot Summer Night, there was no question.

I’d be attempting a first - adapting the essence of my pro-God, pro-sex, all-awkward YA novel into a spoken word piece…that, if selected, I’d be performing.

And while performing my own work is a whole other level of nerve-inducing madness, I am so excited about the piece, the process and finally beginning this conversation with actual people.

Here’s more about the one-night event from director and curator Cathrine Goldstein:

“Hot Summer Night is a bold, intimate evening of live performance presented as part of Davidson Community Players’ Armour After Dark series.

This curated showcase celebrates solo performance in many forms — including poetry, storytelling, and personal narrative.

We are looking for poets, spoken-word poets, monologists, one-person shows, storytellers, and performance artists for one night of original voices and dynamic storytelling in a late-night cabaret-style atmosphere.”

The Book of Hot Summer Night is scheduled to be available for purchase at the performance.
